A RSKTKR is an individual that is willing to take Risks in his life to protect others.

He is a Warrior.
He has received the call to live his life as part of a selective Fraternity that uses the Sheep Dog as it's emblem.
He trains himself to a higher standard.
He will work the basics until they are second nature.

What does the Logo mean?

The design was a brain child of a friend and artist named Duke of Righteous Duke Designs ( www.righteousduke.com ). We had discussed changing my logo to something a little more ambiguous, but had not come up with anything worth fleshing out yet. Then epiphany struck.

The conversation happened as he was heading to his first Pat Roger’s class, and to the best of my memory went like this-

Phone rings, it’s Duke

Doc- Duke, what’s up buddy? Thought you were on the road today to Pat’s class?

Duke- Doc, don’t change a thing- static from a bad connection- I got – more static – dea!

Doc- What, your breaking up?

Duke- Static – an you. . . me?

Doc – No your breaking up.

Duke – I got an idea for your logo it’s a . . . and your goin. . . awesome!

Doc - Call me when you get back from the class.

Duke - I’ll call you in a few days, when I . . . class, it’s awesome!

So needless to say I was a little anxious to see what the design might be and to hear the rest of the story. Did my prayers reach out and through divine intervention cause Duke to have the logo come to him in a dream? Did God touch him in a moment of solitude and cause his hand to draw this logo with only divine input?

Well sorta’

Duke returns and tells me of his moment of inspiration. I had sent him some cool guy stickers, Actionis non Fama!, to show off on his gear in Pat’s class. You know, the ones known to make Pinto’s into Megaforce vehicles, and Acer One’s perform like Alienware’s right?

So he tells me that he received the envelope and it had my old business name on it “RiskTaker Services” on it and he says he pictured it, a flag blowing in the breeze. So this is where the logo came from, a coffee induced haze from him being up to all hours of the day and night prepping for a class. No sleep, too much caffeine (That is what mathematician’s call a “Given” with Duke), and a serious case of Channel Fever before a class. Epiphany? Yes, actually it is.

The flag has a lot of roots to it that all seem to tie in to me, and Duke only knows a little bit about me at the time from a few conversations and some PM’s and such on LF. He could not know that not only was I a Sailor as in the Squid type, Mark 1, Mod O, but that I grew up sailing with my dad. Spent summer’s and sometimes winter’s in boats. Sometimes little boat’s on big water’s. Storms, doldrums, wet, dry, hot, and cold. Swimming off of them, fishing off of them, eating, sleeping, getting my ass chewed for screwing something up, laughing in them at myself, with, and at others. Me and sail boat’s go way back.

Duke also could not know that recently I had become a big history buff. Especially Nautical History! Anything about the days of old when there were wooden ship’s and Iron men, up into modern history that I was part of such as Desert Shield/Storm, Somalia, and a few others.

Duke couldn’t have known what flags mean to me such as the term Ensign, which derives from the term for flag in French, and describes a Junior Officer. The Ensign being responsible for the flag that the troops rally around and toward. Charged with keeping it up in battle, and to never let it fall.

Duke’s first design was based on the Storm Flag and if you read the description, “Storm flags are a nautical tradition for mariners and the Coast Guard is pleased to bring back this part of our maritime heritage. However, the real message is that as the flags indicate changing weather from gale to storm to hurricane conditions, everyone, not just mariners, must tune in to National Weather Service broadcasts and start thinking what they will do to prepare for the worst. The power of nature cannot be underestimated. These nautical flags are intended to visually communicate to the American public the lesson of past hurricanes to take personal responsibility for individual safety in the face of an approaching storm,” said Capt. Jim McPherson, the Coast Guard’s chief of public affairs.” , it says quite a lot about personal responsibility, which is one of the things my business of training people to defend themselves is based on.

It’s also a warning to move away from the area right? So it serve’s as a warning to others that something serious is about to go down. Bad Guys take that anyway you want, but if you are a Threat to me or mine, then something serious is about to go down.

But it is also a call, to those that hear it. If you’re a Coastie, or 1st Responder of some sort, be it Military, LEO, or Rescue personnel in general, then this is the sign that it’s time to go to work. Pull your boots on, grab your Ruck, gear up, and heed the call.

So this is explanation of the logo, which we modified from the Storm flag, and after several versions pinned it down.

I wish to personally and publicly thank Duke and his inspirational rendering for me, you are truly gifted, and touched by God.

So if you hear “The Call”, whether as a profession, or just as a personal responsibility, then this logo is for you. A warning that you are “On Duty” and prepared to weather any storms that come your way.

“Doc” up!
